Buffalo City Court assigns lawyers of the Public Defender Unit to represent persons charged with crimes in the City of Buffalo who cannot afford counsel.
In the course of escaping from an attack with baseball bats, a 23-year-old young woman, with no prior criminal record, unintentionally backed her car into one of the attackers. She was charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment. Through multiple sessions with the DA's office, armed with detailed descriptions and photos of the damage sustained by the client, our attorney persuaded them of her innocence and negotiated a lesser plea. Thus, a case that unjustly began as a felony ended up as a traffic infraction.
